Weekly Wellbeing Blog October 21st, Wednesday , 2020

It is a proud moment for AISC as V .K. Munusamy an Indian Terracotta artist has won the Padma Shri award in the year 2020 for his work in the field of Terracotta Artistry. Our campus houses his creations proudly. Thank You Andrew for encouraging and empowering this awesome project. The project was done under the leadership of Edward Doherty and his team which comprised of Laura Klecker, Aneesh, Cailin, Munusamy, Baskar, and Guru. A few of us will always remember this grand project AISC undertook.

Here is the final email Ed had written to us

"With the strike of a match and the tremor of the earth, the last and largest firing of the project came to an end early this morning.  Last night Laura Klecker, Aneesh , Munusamy, Baskar, Guru, and myself shared an experience that we will never forget. The Ayyanar Horse Project was larger than all of us and culminated with a battle between us and all of nature's elements in a fight to save the horses. The firing did not go smoothly and we faced many monumental problems. As a team we worked together remaining calm, troubleshooting each situation that came our way, utilizing nontraditional resources and on the fly invented processes. It was the most intense experience of my life. Although the shell has not been torn away, the exposed sections have revealed that our two largest horses have reached temperature. This is a great sign! In the end, whether all of the horses arrive or not, it doesn't make a difference. Our village shared an experience that will never be forgotten. As I type this email and lose my battle to hold back tears, I want to thank all of you for your support, participation and encouragement.
Warmest Regards,
Ed".

It was at the same time I was completing my COETAIL and had to submit my final project. I had documented the entire process and created this video. Please watch and travel back into time and watch history being created at AISC.

Netflix’s docuseries Bad Boy Billionaires: India was mired in controversy as soon as the September release date was announced. It was challenged in two courts, one in Bihar by Saharasri Subrata Roy and another in Hyderabad by Satyam’s Ramalinga Raju. But, with the Bihar court now vacating its stay order, we can now watch the story of three business tycoons and their alleged saga of greed and fraud.

Weekly Wellbeing Blog Wednesday , 2020

Welcome back, everyone! Hope you all had a restful fall break where you had time to recharge and recuperate. How many of you were actually able to do a digital detox? Not me! Ha ha ha. I tried but failed miserably. I think it's my only source to stay in touch with all my friends across the globe and bearing that in mind am not going to beat myself about it. Over the break, I was thinking of what new features can I bring to the "Wellness Blog"? I started by changing the name to Wellbeing Blog so that it is consistent with the terminology we use at AISC. What do you think about that? I also thought I would like to feature one of the many local talents we have at Chennai. I am in the lookout for people who have made an identity of their own. This month I am featuring Mr. Mohan the Pan Wala at Besant Nagar. Started in 1979, this tiny paan shop outside the Eden restaurant in Besant Nagar, is known for its paan and kulfis. The shop opens only in the evening and is run by an elderly gentleman named Mohan. His paan draws crowds from all over the city and his kulfis first became famous among his paan patrons. Made fresh every day, his kulfis are some of the sweetest and creamiest we’ve had. Needless to say, if you’re in Bessy post 7 PM and looking for something sweet, stop by this amazing shop

THE CALL OF THE WILD – DISNEY+ HOTSTAR

Talking of Sci-Fi shows, Harrison Ford is all set to star in a heartwarming story as the owner of Buck, a big-hearted dog. When it is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon, Buck must learn to trust his owners and experience the adventure of a lifetime. If you’re a pupper lover, this film should be your pick among all the shows and movies on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and the other streaming platforms.
