It is a proud moment for AISC as V .K. Munusamy an Indian Terracotta artist has won the Padma Shri award in the year 2020 for his work in the field of Terracotta Artistry. Our campus houses his creations proudly. Thank You Andrew for encouraging and empowering this awesome project. The project was done under the leadership of Edward Doherty and his team which comprised of Laura Klecker, Aneesh, Cailin, Munusamy, Baskar, and Guru. A few of us will always remember this grand project AISC undertook.
Here is the final email Ed had written to us
"With the strike of a match and the tremor of the earth, the last and largest firing of the project came to an end early this morning. Last night Laura Klecker, Aneesh , Munusamy, Baskar, Guru, and myself shared an experience that we will never forget. The Ayyanar Horse Project was larger than all of us and culminated with a battle between us and all of nature's elements in a fight to save the horses. The firing did not go smoothly and we faced many monumental problems. As a team we worked together remaining calm, troubleshooting each situation that came our way, utilizing nontraditional resources and on the fly invented processes. It was the most intense experience of my life. Although the shell has not been torn away, the exposed sections have revealed that our two largest horses have reached temperature. This is a great sign! In the end, whether all of the horses arrive or not, it doesn't make a difference. Our village shared an experience that will never be forgotten. As I type this email and lose my battle to hold back tears, I want to thank all of you for your support, participation and encouragement.
Warmest Regards,
Ed".
It was at the same time I was completing my COETAIL and had to submit my final project. I had documented the entire process and created this video. Please watch and travel back into time and watch history being created at AISC.
